May 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration has said that it is ready to launch an immediate programme to reconstruct the temples damaged by the earthquake in Nepal.

The Public Administration Ministry in a statement has said that its attention has already been directed to the reconstruction of temples that were impacted in Kathmandu by the earthquake, the state media reported.

Minister of Public Administration Karu Jayasuriya said he anticipates soliciting the support of the Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka, the Army and the philanthropists to reconstruct the temples.

Many historic Viharas in Nepal were damaged by the 7.8 magnitude quake that struck Nepal on April 25. Minister Jayasuriya said Sri Lanka is ready to take the lead in rebuilding these temples.
