* Three new provincial governors appointed in Sri Lanka

Jan 23, Colombo: Three new Governors were sworn in before Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena Friday at the Presidential Secretariat.

Mr. K.C. Yogeswaran was sworn in as the new Governor for Western Province, Mrs. Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake was sworn in as the new Governor for North Western Province and Mr. Hemakumara Nanayakkara was sworn in as the new Governor for Southern Province.

President Sirisena appointed diplomat and former Foreign Secretary H. M. G. S. Palihakkara as the Governor of the Northern Province earlier this month.

Several provincial governors who were appointed by the previous government have resigned following the defeat of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
