* Sri Lanka Freedom Party dissolves its youth wing 'Nil Balakaya'

Feb 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the majority party in Sri Lankan parliament, has decided to dissolve its youth wing "Nil Balakaya" immediately, a media report said.

SLFP national organizer, MP Susil Premajayantha has told the national radio that the "Nil Balakaya" will be dissolved with immediate effect and the party's youth wing will only be the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Youth Federation.

Nil Balakaya (Blue Force) which was convened under the patronage of the former President's son and president of Tharunyata Hetak organization, MP Namal Rajapaksa, is the organization created to support the political campaign of the SLFP.

MP Premajayantha also said that the SLFP has not reached any agreement with the United National Party to form a national government.

Speaking to the BBC Sandeshaya programme the MP added that the SLFP-led United People's Freedom Alliance will contest under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena at the upcoming general election with the objective of forming an independent government.
