* Sri Lankan government is strengthening free education with technical laboratories in schools

Sept 14, Badulla: The government is strengthening free education with the establishment of Mahindodaya technical laboratories in schools for the students to meet the future needs of the country as well as the world, the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Sunday.

Speaking at the ceremonial openings of seven Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories in the Uva Province, the President said the aim of the project is to strengthen education sector by increasing the IT literacy among Sri Lankan students.

The establishment of the laboratories to boost education standards will help our children to win the challenges not only in the country, but also throughout the world, the President said.

President Rajapaksa said that the subject technology has the highest demand in the world job market and the government commenced Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories to prepare the students of the country to meet that demand.

He stressed that the words "no" and "can't" should be removed from the vocabulary of the children and they should work for their targets.

In addition to the Mahindodaya laboratories, 1,000 more laboratories will be setup in 1,000 government schools and 88 laboratories will be setup in the Uva province alone, according to the President.

Today the President declared open the Mahindodaya technical laboratories in Welimada Central College, Welimada Keppetipola Maha Vidyalaya, Guruthalawa Muslim Central College, Boralanda Dharmapala Vidyalaya, , Medawela secondary school, Ambagasdiva President's college and Alagolla Tamil Maha Vidyalaya.
