* Sajith Premadasa to participate in campaigning for Uva PC election from September 07
Wed, Sep 3, 2014, 11:45 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Hambantota district parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa would start participating in the election campaign for Uva Provincial Council from September 07, the party announced.

According to the announcement, Sajith Premadasa will participate in an election campaign rally in Namunukula in Moneragala district.

This is the latest of a series of such announcements by the UNP. However Premadasa has not taken part in any campaigning for the Uva PC elections yet.

Premadasa did not participate in a meeting in Avukana in Anuradhapura district as expected although the party had announced that he would address people on the same stage with party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The organizer of the meeting, Anuradhapura district MP P. Harrison said that MP Sajith Premadasa promised him to participate in the meeting but did not attend it.

Meanwhile, UNP sources say that Premadasa will further study the election campaign and participate in it if the party appears to be sure of the victory.
