Tue, Sep 2, 2014, 09:03 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Sept 02, Colombo: The Secretary of the Human Rights Commission has issued summons to the Secretary to the Ministry of Justice to appear before the Commission on September 05.

The summon was issued pertaining to a complaint lodged by the Inquirer into Sudden Deaths (Muslims) of East Nuwaragam Palatha of Anuradhapura district M.F.M. Munawar.

Munawar has complained that he was illegally suspended from his post by the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice. He also cited that the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice has taken the action due to the pressure from the Minister of Justice Rauf Hakeem who has been influenced by a member of his party Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.

The Secretary of the Human Rights Commission has mentioned in the summons that the failure to appear before the Commission will be considered as contempt of the Human Rights Commission.
