* Sri Lanka's first ever International Film Festival begins today in Colombo

Sept 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka for the first time will hold an international film festival to offer a great international cinema experience to Sri Lankan film enthusiasts.

The first ever International Film Festival of Colombo (IFFCOLOMBO), organized by the Film Directors Guild of Sri Lanka in association with the 'Okinawa International Movie Festival' in Japan, will begin today at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo at 5 p.m.

The event, which will be held until September 07, will open today with the presentation of the commemorative volume to veteran cinematographer Lester James Peiris.

The festival will screen films from several countries in varied cinema disciplines and according to the organizers 102 films have been scheduled to be screened at this event from countries like France, India, UK, US, China, Germany, Nepal, Israel and Switzerland.

The list of movies will include includes African, Caribbean and Latin American films to offer a worldwide cultural experience to the Sri Lankan audience.

The movies will be screened at five major cinemas in Colombo- Regal cinema, the Majestic Cinemas, Empire Arcade, Goethe Institut and NFC Cinema- during the festival.
