Sept 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the main constituent of Sri Lanka's ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will celebrate its 63rd anniversary in Badulla today under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The main ceremony will be held at the Vincent Dias grounds in Badulla under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa this evening.

SLFP was founded by the 4th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka late S.W.R.D Bandaranaike in 1951 and, since then, it has been one of the two largest parties in the Sri Lankan political arena.

The SLFP anniversary will be held in parallel to the election campaign for the Uva Provincial Council. SLFP representatives of all districts will participate in the event.

Treasurer of SLFP, Minister Dallas Alahapperuma said that all arrangements have been finalized to conduct this ceremony in a grand scale.

Minister Alahapperuma told the National Radio that the house to house campaign of the ruling United Peoples' Freedom Alliance carried out in the Uva Province during the weekend has been extremely successful. The Minister added that a similar propaganda campaign will be implemented in the coming weekend as well.
