* Vatican confirms Pope's visit to Sri Lanka January 12 -15

July 29, Vatican City: The Vatican today confirmed the dates for Pope Francis' trip to Sri Lanka next year.

The Holy See Press Office said in a Communiqué that accepting the invitation from the civil authorities and the Episcopate, the Pope will make an Apostolic Trip to Sri Lanka from 12 to 15 January.

Early this year Pope Francis accepted an invitation from Cardinal, Malcolm Ranjith to visit Sri Lanka.

Following the visit to Sri Lanka, the Pope will visit Philippines from 15 to 19 January 2015.

The Vatican said the program for his second Asia trip will be published shortly.

Pope Francis is scheduled to visit to South Korea from 14 to 18 August 2014.
