July 29, Colombo: The Police have arrested the driver of Sri Lanka Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Leader, parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake in connection with yesterday's accident which caused injuries to the MP.

Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told local media that Ratnapura police have arrested Dissanayake's driver on charges of reckless driving. He will be produced in Ratnapura Magistrate Court today.

Dissanayaka was injured when the vehicle he was travelling met with an accident on Horana - Ratnapura road at Ballapitiya Monday morning.

JVP leader's vehicle has collided head-on with a tipper vehicle when it was passing another tipper vehicle, the police have said.

The MP was admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital and later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital. His injuries were not life threatening. The driver has also sustained minor injuries.
