July 27, Colombo: The nomination board Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) for the Uva Provincial Council election will meet for the first time on July 29, party sources said.
The nomination board will meet daily to consider the applications for nominations. UNP media spokesman Gayantha Karunatilaka said that a large number of applications had been received.
He said that the former councilors and the electoral organizers will also be summoned for interviews. The party expects to hand over the nominations for both Badulla and Moneragala districts before August 06.
The nominations for the upcoming election in Uva Provincial Council will be received from the 30th of this month till 6th of August.
