July 24, Colombo: Coalition party of Sri Lankan government National Freedom Front (NFF) said today that the party would not hesitate to contest the Uva Provincial Council election separately if nomination is not granted to them.
Uva Provincial Council's former councilor Padma Udaya Shantha Gunasekera said at a press conference held in Moneragala today that some leaders of the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) were breaking the unity of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA).
UPFA sources say the NFF is not likely to receive the number of nominations expected by the party although Udaya Shantha is guaranteed the nomination.
NFF leader and government Minister Wimal Weerawansa has said the 12-point proposals mooted by the party general assembly are aimed at positioning the party and the government to successfully face the social, economic, cultural and moral challenges in the country.
He has also vowed to take a strong decision unless they would not be able to change the path of the government positively.
