* Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League to visit Sri Lanka

July 15, Colombo: The members of Japan-Sri Lanka, Parliamentary League is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka by the end of July, 2014 after a lapse of 12 years.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Japan Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda has met with both the president and the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary League to discuss the programme as well as other functionaries and meetings during their visit.

During the three-day visit, the delegation would call on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris and would be hosted by the Minister of Economic Development and the Minister of Environment & Renewable Energy, among others.

The delegation would be led by the President of the League, Masahiko Komura, who is also the Vice President of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Secretary-General, Ms.Yuko Obuchi, the former Cabinet Minister and Senior Vice Minister for Finance, too would be in the delegation. The 12 member delegation would consist of senior parliamentarians and political leaders of the Government of Japan.

The Japan-Sri Lanka, Parliamentary League has 67 members, in total, consisting of parliamentarians from Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Japan and other political parties. The President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League in Sri Lanka is the Minister of Environment & Renewable Energy Susil Premajayantha.

The proposed visit of the Japan - Sri Lanka Parliamentary League is expected to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations in all spheres.
