July 12, Colombo: President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka has appointed Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy with effect from 07th July 2014.

Rear Admiral Wijegunaratne takes up the post of Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy as it fell vacant when Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera, who held that post, was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy from 01 July 2014.

Rear Admiral Wijegunaratne is the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
