July 07, Colombo: The main constituent party of Sri Lanka's ruling alliance, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has launched a series of seminars to strengthen the party at the electoral level.

Launching the program on Friday, thousands of party activists, ministers and parliamentarians of the party participated in seminars held in several electorates, the state run radio said.

Party activists in the in the Uva Province, which is expected to be dissolved in any day now, have shown a keen interest to strengthen the party position in the Province when they attended the seminars held in several electorates of Badulla and Moneragala Districts, party sources said.

The President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently chaired a special workshop of all ministers, MPs and Provincial Council members representing the SLFP in Beruwala to discuss the measures to strengthen the party as well as the government.

The seminar series at the electoral level is being conducted under the direction of the President.
