Aug 31, Colombo: SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and the newest member of the oneworld global airline alliance, celebrates thirty-five years of flying, at the Airline Centre in Katunayake, on Monday (September 1st).
Founded in 1979, SriLankan has expanded its services to 89 destinations in 44 countries across the globe, operating around 260 weekly flights out of Bandaranaike International Airport, with its all Airbus fleet of 21 aircraft.
Starting this year, the national carrier is replacing its wide-body fleet and 6 brand new Airbus A330-300 aircraft and 7 next generation Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be added to the existing fleet. The first A330 aircraft will be added in October.
Celebrating the 35th anniversary, the airline on 1st September 2014 will give away 35% off on the price of all tickets purchased online at www.srilankan.com to any of their online destinations. The offer is valid on Economy/Business Class return tickets for travel commencing from 15th October up to 10th December 2014.
SriLankan Airlines joined the oneworld airline alliance on May 1st this year as the first carrier from the Indian Sub-continent.
