* UNP MP Sajith Premadasa to participate in campaigning for Uva PC election from tomorrow
Sun, Aug 31, 2014, 08:04 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Hambantota district parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa has promised to take part in the party's election campaign for the Uva Provincial Council from tomorrow.

UNP sources say that the MP has delivered his consent to participate in the election campaign to the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Premadasa is expected to participate in the UNP public rallies in Moneragala district from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, UNP sources say that the vacant Deputy Leader position of the party is most likely to be given to MP Sajith Premadasa within a few weeks. However, a section of the party is reportedly against the move by the party leader.

Party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe is in a bid to reunite and strengthen the party to be a formidable challenge to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the next presidential election.
