* Sri Lanka to issue a stamp to honor Mahela Jayawardene
Fri, Aug 29, 2014, 08:28 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Aug 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Postal Services, former Sri Lankan cricket legend Sanath Jayasuriya said Thursday that he would take steps to issue a stamp to honor recently retired prolific Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene.

Jayasuriya said that he would request from the Minister of Postal Services Jeewan Kumaratunga to issue the stamp in honor of Mahela.

Minister Jeewan Kumaratunga recently has said that a stamp to honor Mahela would be issued if Sri Lanka Cricket made a formal request.

Jayasuriya said that he would propose this at the next executive committee meeting of Sri Lanka Cricket and make the request on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket.

"During the next Executive Committee Meeting we will discuss this and take steps to inform my minister," he told media.
