The 42-year-old Sri Lankan businessman is wanted by Switzerland authorities for the murder of his former partner, 23-year-old Kavitha Kandiah in the Swiss city of Basel on December 13, 2000.

The suspect made his first appearance in Auckland District Court on Tuesday after being arrested on behalf of the Swiss government, NZ Newswire reported.
