Aug 25, Colombo: Meeting the need of more hotel facilities to cater to the increasing number of tourists arriving in the country, the Avenra group in Sri Lanka has opened the newly refurbished Avenra Beach Hotel in in the southern beach town of Hikkaduwa.
Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa declared open the 60-room hotel on August 22.
The Avenra Beach Hotel, located on a strip of land between the seas taking maximum advantage of the beach front, consists of a swimming pool, conference and banqueting hall which can seat 450, restaurant and many more facilities for tourists.
The hotel, refurbished at a cost of Rs. 500 million accommodates local holiday makers well as international travelers targeting international markets of Europe and China.
The hotel will create employment for youth in the area in addition to boosting income and business opportunities to the self-employed, micro enterprises.
