* Sri Lanka main opposition party to reinstate two expelled members in electoral organizer positions

Aug 21, Colombo: Ranil Wickremasinghe, Leader of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP), has decided to reinstate two expelled members of the party in electoral organizer positions, party sources say.

The UNP leader has decided to appoint former pro-reformist Provincial Councilors Shiral Lakthilaka and Maithri Gunarathna who were expelled from the party for rebelling against the leader.

Shiral Lakthilaka is to be appointed as an electoral organizer of Colombo district while Maithri Gunarathna is to be appointed as an electoral organizer of Galle district, UNP sources say.

The disciplinary probes against these two activists were also to be suspended.

The UNP Leader recently made an open invitation to all the former party members, who left the party for various reasons, who were expelled from the party, and the members subjected to disciplinary inquiries to forget all past discontents and join the UNP again to defeat the present Rajapaksa regime.
