* Sri Lankan President condoles Japan landslide deaths

Aug 21, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday mourned the loss of lives and destruction due to the devastating landslides that struck Hiroshima, Japan on Wednesday .

"My thoughts go out to the families of those killed and affected by the landslides in Hiroshima, Japan, yesterday," President Rajapaksa said in a twitter message.

At least 39 people, including at least three children, have been confirmed dead after a series of landslides struck Hiroshima in the pre-dawn hours Wednesday.

"Sri Lankans also suffer from landslides. Thatís why the collaboration between our countries on this specific issue is so important," the President said.
