Aug 19, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has affirmed that there will be no General Election at least for another year.

President Rajapaksa has announced this while addressing the Parliamentary Team meeting last night (18) at Presidential Secretariat Office, national news agency Lankapuvath reported.

Sri Lanka last held general elections in April 2010.

During the meeting, the President has also asked the government ministers and ruling party parliamentarians to be more responsible when giving statements to media on government's development projects.

President Rajapaksa has reportedly advised Minister Maithripala Sirisena to look into these matters and be on the alert about Ministers and Parliamentarians who make irresponsible statements to media.
