Aug 18, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in the farewell celebration of legendary batsman Mahela Jayawardena who played his last Test match today.

The President was present at the SSC grounds in Colombo today to felicitate the cricketer who is retiring from the Test cricket after a 17-year-long career and presented him with a memento to mark the batsman's contribution to Sri Lanka cricket.

The President also met with the Sri Lankan and Pakistani teams.

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan at the SSC grounds today to win the second Test match as well in a two-match series and clinched the series to give the retiring legend a fitting farewell.

Deputy Minister Sanath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga and Jayantha Dharmadasa were also present to greet Mahela.
