* Sri Lanka Opposition Leader enters social media

Aug 14, Colombo: Leader of Sri Lanka's Opposition and the United National Party Ranil Wickremasinghe has launched his official Facebook page today.

The launch of Wickremasinghe's official page named as "Ranil Wickremasinghe - National Leader" was held at United National Party (UNP) headquarters Sirikotha this morning.

He has also taken to the micro blog site Twitter with the official handle @RanilWickremesi. Addressing the gathering after the launching of the website UNP leader, referring to the mega construction projects carrying out in the country, said that the country had moved to a 'concrete' economy from an industrial economy.

He further pointed out that Sri Lanka needed an economy based on technical knowledge and the country can be developed through developing human resources.

The opposition leader has launched a vigorous publicity campaign vying for the UNP candidature at the Presidential election.

However, the party is yet to make a decision on fielding a presidential candidate. Discussions are also underway to field a common opposition candidate but the Opposition leader has expressed his desire to run for the top post.
