* Sri Lanka President receives traditional 'Sannasa' of Kandy Esala Perahera

Aug 11, Kandy: The grand religious festival of Esala Perahera in Sri Lanka came to a successful end today with the water cutting ceremony and the presentation of the Sannasa to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

According to the traditional customs, Custodian of the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa, Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bndara, along with the Basnayake Nilames of the four Hindu Temples (Dewales), officially presented the 'Sannasa', the traditional communication of successful conclusion of the Kandy Esala Perahera, to the Head of State, President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the President's House in Kandy today.

The final Randoli Perahara paraded the streets of Kandy last night.

The President recognized the artists and performers who took part in the Perahara today and also presented the two baby elephants 'Abhaya Raja' and 'Mihin Raja' with a fruit treat.
