Aug 09, Colombo: The Sri Lankan parliament has passed a motion in the House yesterday to create a new post of 'Special Prosecutor' as a measure to minimize the political interferences on government service.

Parliament has decided to create the new post to ensure the Government Service is free from political interferences'

The 'Special Prosecutor' is expected to directly report to the Parliament.

The new appointee will be able to institute prosecutions as soon as Independent Commissions, Committee on Public Accounts and Committee on Public Enterprises report the cases of misuse, corruption or inefficiency, affecting the efficiency of the Institutions.
