* State health workers of Sri Lanka to strike work from August13th

Aug 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka's All Ceylon Health Services Union announced that it will call a strike at government hospitals on August 13 to win their demands.

The convener of the National Trade Union Center Samantha Koralearachchi said that the strike will be conducted island wide continuously.

The demands include implementation of 6/2006 circular on salary structure and paying the arrears, making the casual workers permanent and one day night shift etc.

The Convener of the National Trade Union Center said that 50,000 health workers have been affected by the problems related to the demands. He also said that all the discussions and peaceful protests have gone to the deaf ears and they had no other option but striking.

The union demanded the employees to strike work and gather before the Ministry of Health to protest the authorities.
