* Sri Lankan woman arrested for selling her baby for Rs. 30,000

Aug 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka police yesterday had arrested a mother of a six-month old baby girl for selling her baby to another woman for Rs.30,000 (approximately US$ 230) .

The Sapugaskanda police arrested the 32-year old mother along with the woman who bought the infant last week. The buyer is reportedly a resident of Makola, Kiribathgoda.

Both women will be produced in the Mahara Magistrate’s Court today, the police said

The Sapugaskanda Police are conducting further investigations.
