* Candidates for forthcoming Sri Lanka PC election requested to declare assets with nominations

Aug 03, Colombo: The Elections Commissioner of Sri Lanka Mahinda Deshapriya has requested candidates contesting for the forthcoming Uva Provincial council elections to provide their asset declarations along with the nominations.

The Commissioner has also said that firm action and even legal action would be taken against the candidates who fail to submit their assets and liabilities declaration.

Receipt of nominations for Uva Provincial Council elections commenced at respective District Secretariats on 30th July and will end on 6th August.

Meanwhile, the Election Secretariat has instructed the party secretaries to allow candidates to only use the name included in their birth certificate and the National Identification Card.
