* Sri Lanka Army to establish new base in Kalutara district

Aug 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Defense and Urban Development has decided to establish an Army base in Kalutara district in Western Province.

The Army Commander has requested a 15 acre land from the District Secretary of Kalutara to establish the military camp.

The request was discussed on July 27, at the Kalutara district coordinating committee meeting which was held under the patronage of Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama. An understanding was reached to allocate a land from Matugama divisional secretary area.

Kalutara district has no permanent military base at present.
