* Sri Lanka to host 'Galle Dialogue' International Maritime Conference in December

Aug 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka, being an important player and stakeholder with its strategic location, will discuss and exchange matters of regional maritime security concerns at the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference this year.

Galle Dialogue 2014 International maritime conference will be held in the port city of Galle on 01st and 02nd December 2014 at the Lighthouse Hotel in Galle with local and foreign participation from the maritime fraternity.

The "Galle Dialogue" initiative, inaugurated in 2010, created a forum to discuss and exchange views on regional maritime security concerns.

The maritime conference is organized by the Sri Lanka Navy on the directive of Ministry of Defence, & Urban Development.

The two-day conference under the theme "Cooperation and Collaboration for Maritime Prosperity" will bring together local and foreign scholars and experts in maritime and naval affairs representing 60 countries to share their views on a broad spectrum of maritime issues.

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera will welcome the attendees and Secretary of Defense, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session.
