* Indiana Buddhist Temple holds annual Vesak celebrations

May 29, Fort Wayne, IN: Indiana Buddhist Temple in Fort Wayne, IN held its annual Vesak celebrations on Saturday May 24, at the temple premises to mark the Birth, Awakening and passing away (Parinibbana) of the Buddha.

About 12 Buddhist monks and many Sri Lankan, American, Malaysian and Thai devotees from Indiana and neighboring states attended the celebration.

The Vesak program of the day included Attavishi Buddha Puja, Sangika Dana, meditation, Pirith chanting, Dhamma talks and discussions, Dansala and Parade.

Bhikkhu Santidhammo from Indianapolis led the Meditation Retreat and Bhante Matugama Mahanama delivered Dhamma desana, Matthakundali Vatthu.

The event was organized under the guidance of Chief Prelate of the Temple, Ven. Talangama Dewananda Thero.

The Temple amid Seth Pirith also opened its fruit orchard, Dhammadasa's Orchard, named for Mr. Bruce Allen. Mr. Allen is a regular meditation practitioner and a dedicated patron of the Temple, who also makes flower garlands for sale and purchases fruit trees with the money.

The Temple will hold a meditation retreat with Bhante Punna on June 28, 2014 to mark the Temple's anniversary.
