May 23, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today extended his warm wishes to the leader of the Ceylon Mercantile, Industrial and General Workers Union Bala Tampoe on his 92rd birthday.

The President paid a personal visit to the CMU office in Kollupitiya today to offer his best wishes to the veteran union leader.

Tampoe, an advocate of criminal law, became the General Secretary of the CMU in February 1948.
