* Chinese President hosts Asian leaders attending CICA to a banquet

May 20, Colombo: Chinese President Xi Jinping and China's First Lady Peng Liyuan on Tuesday hosted the leaders of Asian nations and their guests attending the fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Chinese President welcomed his Sri Lankan counterpart President Mahinda Rajapaksa, along with other heads of state and heads of delegation arrived at the Welcome Banquet held at the Shanghai International Conference Center this evening.

During the banquet President Jinping Tuesday called on Asian countries to promote unity, cooperation and development of the continent.

He called on Asian countries to cherish the rare opportunities, jointly consolidate and safeguard the good momentum of Asian development, promote the unity, cooperation and development of whole Asia.

China is taking over the rotating presidency of the 25-member organization for the period 2014-16.
