* US Embassy announces grants program to support youth in Sri Lanka

May 12, Colombo: The United States Embassy in Colombo has announced a grant program to fund projects for Sri Lankan youth.

The main objective of the Youth Empowerment Grants Program is to support innovative, small-scale, cutting-edge projects developed and implemented by and/or for young people between the ages of 15-25.

The projects should be in the areas of educational development, environment issues, community development, civil society building, human rights, youth enrichment activities, health and human services and employability.

The competition is open to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) registered in Sri Lanka.

Interested applicants are requested to e-mail the completed proposal to AmCenterSL@state.gov on or before May 31, 2014. More information can be found at http://srilanka.usembassy.gov/yeg2014.html
