May 10, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has organized a workshop to provide further training to the field officers providing counseling and psychosocial support to the war affected people in North and East.
The National Counseling Center of the Ministry of Social Services will conduct "Awareness and Coordination Workshops" for the officers.
Social service officers, counseling assistants, officers under the Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs, and other relevant officers attached to the District Secretariats of Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu will undergo further capacity building training in order to strengthen and improve the quality of their service delivery.
First of these workshops was held in Jaffna Friday (May 09) while the other two will be held in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu on May 12 and 13, 2014, respectively.
The Ministry of Social Services is engaged in conducting numerous programs including counseling and livelihood support programs for the war-affected and vulnerable sectors in the North and East under the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).
