* Indian Coast Guard arrests 31 Sri Lankan fishermen

May 10, Nagayalanka: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on May 7 had apprehended 31 Sri Lankan fishermen at Nagayalanka in Krishna district for trespassing into Indian waters, the Express News Service said.

The Coast Guard reportedly apprehended the Sri Lankan fishermen and seized their 4 vessels containing four metric tons of fish.

The fisheries department would auction the confiscated fish on Sunday.

The 31 Sri Lankan fishermen arrested for trespassing into Indian waters in violation of international maritime law have been brought to Marine police station at Kakinada Friday. They will be produced in the court on Saturday.

They Sri Lankan fishermen representatives are to hold the second round of talks on fisheries issue with the Tamil Nadu fishermen on Monday, May 12.
