May 09, Colombo: Nigerian delegates to the World Conference on Youth 2014 (WCY2014) currently being held in Sri Lanka along with other international delegates held a demonstration to protest the abduction of hundreds of young school girls in Nigeria.
The Nigerian delegates along with Sri Lankan and international delegates held placards that said "Bring back our girls" in front of the halls where the sessions of the conference are being held and in front of the media center and demanded a discussion on the crisis at the WCY2014.
The Conference on Youth has also voiced its utmost displeasure over the kidnapping of 276 school girls by the Islamic extremist group "Boko Haram".
Speaking at the occasion the delegates who took part in the protest said this is a campaign not only against the abduction but also against the unjustifiable abuses faced by girls around the world.
On the night of April 14, armed members of Boko Haram kidnapped the entire group of students at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok and drove them into the jungle bordering Cameroon.
At least 53 girls of the group managed to escape and three weeks later, 276 school girls are still missing.
