* Sri Lanka police deploys STF to control tense situation in Beruwala

Mar 29, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Police have deployed Special Task Force personnel in the Beruwala today to control a tense situation in the area.

A tense situation was reported in the evening in Beruwala following a clash between supporters of the governing United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and main opposition United National Party (UNP).

Local media reports said that two persons were injured in the clash and were admitted to hospital.

The police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident.

The Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana told the media that several vehicles and other property were damaged in the incident.
