* Sri Lanka Marxist party candidate and union leader dies in an accident

Mar 25, Colombo: Sumathipala Manawadu, the secretary of the Railway General Workers' Union and a candidate at the Western Provincial Council election from the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has died in a road accident.

Manawadu was killed Tuesday evening when his motorcycle collided with a container truck in Ganemulla.

He was heading to Kadawata to address a JVP political rally when he met with the accident, local Daily Mirror reported.
