Mar 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police today have arrested 8 people suspected of attacking a street drama troupe of Sri Lanka's Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) in Panadura.

The members of the troupe were allegedly assaulted by a group of people with iron rods after they performed a street drama at the Panadura bus stand yesterday.

Nine people were reportedly injured in the attack and admitted to the Panadura Hospital. A member of the street drama group has told local media that five members of the group were severely injured.

A complaint regarding the attack has been lodged at Panadura Police.
