* Sri Lankan government MP says Tamil Tiger Diaspora still trying to establish an Eelam
Fri, Mar 14, 2014, 12:02 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 14, Colombo: Parliamentarian of Sri Lanka's governing party, Namal Rajapaksa has said that despite the military defeat of the LTTE, members of the Tamil Tiger Diaspora were still trying to establish an Eelam.

Addressing an election rally in Kelaniya, Rajapaksa said that these elements were still working on a Tamil Eelam and it is being sustained by various forces.

He noted that although peace has been ushered into the country following the defeat of the LTTE, the activities of the LTTE affiliated Tamil Diaspora against the government are being guided and assisted by INGOs and imperialist camps which hold ulterior motives of dividing the country.

According to Rajapaksa, chauvinistic, communal and religious conflicts are propagated by these elements to create disharmony in the country.

He added that the people should not be misled by these actions as it is important for the well-being of the country and its people.
