Thu, Mar 13, 2014, 09:41 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Mar 13, Colombo: The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, the governing authority of the sport, has decided to pay hefty bonuses to the national team for participation and winning championship matches.

The Executive Committee at its meeting today proposed the payments as a flat fee to the team in lieu of the individual returns of the ICC events the players demanded to sign the contracts for the next year.

The Executive Committee met again today following the meeting of the Office Bearers with the player representatives yesterday.

According to the proposed fee structure which is aimed at rewarding the performance, the team will be paid a participating fee of US$ 500,000 for their participation in the T20 2014 Tournament in Bangladesh. Another US$ 250,000 will be paid if the team reaches the final and another US$ 250,000 if they win the final championship.

For participating in the World Cup Tournament 2015, SLC will pay US$ 750,000 to the national team members. In addition, the team will be paid US$ 250,000 on entering the semi-final, US$ 250,000 on entering the final and US$ 750,000 on winning the final.

The Executive Committee, as a gesture of goodwill, has decided to reward the Team's performance in winning the Asia Cup with a special bonus of US$ 100,000.

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva has told ESPN CricInfo that the board had presented these figures to the players, and was hopeful of a positive response from the team. The parties seek a solution before the team leaves for the World T20 early on Sunday.

The Committee has also decided to reward the Women's team for their participation in T20 2014 Tournament in Bangladesh. The ladies' team will be paid US$ 50,000 on entering the Semi Finals, an additional US$ 25,000 on entering the final, and another US$ 25,000 on winning the Final. However, no guaranteed payment was offered for participation in the tournament as for the men's team.
