Mar 07, Colombo: A Malaysian delegation recently held discussions with Sri Lanka's investment promotion agency Board of Investment (BOI) to develop and promote Malaysian Foreign Direct Investments to Sri Lanka.
The Malaysian delegation consisted of Counsellor at Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka Tan Li Lung Consul (Trade) Commissioner Malaysia Consulate in Chennai Shah Nizam and Vice Consul (Trade) at Malaysian High Commission in Colombo Badrul Hisham Hilal met with the Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman of the BOI and other senior officers of the Board.
The Malaysian side expressed interest in a number of structured projects which BOI and other state institutions developed and launched at the Commonwealth Business Forum held in November 2013.
The projects to be promoted in Malaysia are in variety of sectors including tourism, agriculture including Fish processing, Development of Industrial and IT Parks and Healthcare.
Malaysia is one of the leading investors in Sri Lanka, whose investments have resulted in considerable employment opportunities and revenue to the country, especially in the telecommunication sector.
The Malaysian meeting is a reflection of growing International Investor Confidence in Sri Lanka, the BOI said.
