* Complaint lodged against Sri Lanka opposition MP Mangala Samaraweera
Sat, Jun 28, 2014, 01:18 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

June 27, Colombo: A retired disabled officer of Sri Lanka Air Force lodged a complaint today against opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera.

The plaintiff is a resident of Pannipitiya. He lodged the complaint at Mirihana police station this noon.

Police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the complaint was under probe. Police earlier said that the advice of Attorney General had been sought to act against MP Mangala Samaraweera under the Official Secrets Act of No. 32 of 1955 for divulging state intelligence secrets.

Mangala Samaraweera is accused of naming several former and present intelligence officers as engaged in instigating recent communal violence in Aluthgama and Dharga Town.

UNP MP Ajith Perera pointed out today at a press conference that the government had not still denied what MP Samaraweera said.

He argued that stating it as an official secret was admitting the fact is true.
