* Sri Lanka Navy assists the repatriation of 46 Indian fishermen

June 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka Navy in two separate occasions has escorted 46 Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were released from Sri Lankan custody recently, and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

Naval Patrol Craft attached to North Central Naval Command on Friday, June 27, handed over 22 Indian fishermen to the Indian Coast Guard Ships C137 and H190 at the IMBL in the seas off Thalaimannar, the Navy said.

A Naval patrol craft attached to the Northern Naval Command assisted the repatriation of 24 Indian fishermen on 26th June 2014. They were handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship "Vishwast" at the IMBL off Kankasanthurai. The Navy arrested the 46 Tamil Nadu fishermen on June 18 in two separate incidents while fishing near Neduntheevu and Katchatheevu islet.
