* Government of Sri Lanka condemns attack on civilian aircraft in Pakistan

June 25, Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka today strongly condemned the attack on a passenger plane arriving at Peshawar airport in Pakistan.

"The Government of Sri Lanka strongly condemns the cowardly terrorist attack on a civilian passenger aircraft approaching the Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar, Pakistan, last evening (24th June 2014), killing a female passenger and leaving two crew members injured," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The Pakistan International Airlines flight carrying about 178 passengers from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia was landing at the Peshawar airport when gunmen opened fire.

"Sri Lanka is committed to extend her fullest cooperation to Pakistan in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the Ministry said.

Sri Lanka victorious after successfully defeating a ruthless Tamil Tiger terrorist group that was fighting for 30 years has also offered to help Nigeria to combat the Boko Haram terrorists.
