* New Commander for Sri Lanka Navy appointed

June 25, Colombo: Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera, has been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the navy's new Commander with effect from July 1.

He will be the 19th Navy Commander of Sri Lanka. He succeeds the outgoing Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage.

The new Navy Commander will ceremonially assume duty in the post on July 01.
