* Sri Lanka's main opposition forms a 15-member committee to compile manifesto for future elections

June 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to appoint a committee to compile policies for the party to be set forth in the upcoming elections.

The committee will comprise 15 senior members of the party under the chairmanship of party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The other members of the committee include UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, chairman of Leadership Council Karu Jayasuriya, Chairman Kabir Hashim, National Organizer Daya Gamage, MPs Joseph Michael Perera, Mangala Samaraweera, P. Harrison, Sajith Premadasa, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Thalatha Atukorale, D.M. Swaminathan, Ruwan Wijewardena, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Gayantha Karunathilaka.

UNP sources say the committee has already held the preliminary discussions regarding the compiling of a policy manifesto targeting a regime change.
